State law requires PERA to pay benefits during the first week of the month. To ensure members receive their benefits as soon as possible, PERA directly deposits benefits into your bank account the first business day of the month. If the first of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, you will receive your benefit payment on the next business day.
Generally, PERA mails actual checks the last business day of the previous month to reach the member the first business day of the month. Since mail times vary, if you have a lost check, Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) will not issue replacement checks during the first two weeks of the month. PERA strongly encourages direct deposit to ensure you are paid as promptly as possible.
