Spotlight on 2020 Legislation: Repaying a Refund

If you previously received a refund of your contributions, you may be eligible to repay the refund plus interest to restore lost service credit. Repaying your refunded service with PERA is optional, but could result in a larger benefit with PERA.

Some members may have partially paid a refund in the past, restoring a portion of the lost service credit. A change made in 2020 legislation now requires all refund repayments to be made in full. This means that if you already made a partial purchase, any future repayment must be the full remaining amount.
