Attention Retirees and Benefit Recipients: 2025 Annual Increases

Attention Retirees and Benefit Recipients: 2025 Annual Increases

Effective January 1, 2025, your annual benefit increase is

>>1.25% if you are in the Coordinated, Basic, or MERF Plan,

>>1% if you are in the Police & Fire, Minneapolis Police, or Minneapolis Fire Plan, or

>>2.5% if you are in the Correctional Plan.

Minnesota Statutes § 356.415 determine annual increases for your monthly benefit.

Percentage increases for Coordinated and Correctional Plan retirees and benefit recipients are tied to the consumer price index the Social Security Administration uses.  According to statute, the Coordinated Plan increase ranges from 1–1.5% each year. The Correctional Plan increase ranges from 1–2.5% each year. The Police & Fire Plan increase is fixed at 1%.

What is my new benefit amount?
PERA benefit specialists cannot tell you your new 2025 benefit amount. Beginning December 21, you can view your new benefit amount in your myPERA account. In myPERA, you’ll also find other payment and withholding information.

New to receiving PERA benefits?
You may be eligible for an increase on January 1, 2025. Your first increase might be less than the full increase, depending on the type of benefit you are receiving, the plan, and your benefit effective date. After your first increase, you will receive full annual increases starting on the next January 1.
